When building property, whether it’s a home or a commercial building, you require lots of cable wiring to make the building run correctly, efficiently, and safely. When taking on a job, it is important to have the right cable for the job and there is a wide variety of cabling to meet your jobs demand. Doncaster Cables is the largest British owned general wiring manufacturers in the UK. They provide the UK with some of the most sought-after approved and accredited cabling for everyday and industrial use. In this guide, we will be discussing the following cable and what they are used for. The cables are EV cables, Twin and Earth cables, SWA, and Tuff Sheath cables.

EV Cables

Combine power and data into one cable with an approved and accredited EV Ultra cable. Available in four variations of either PVC Tuff-Sheath, steel wire armoured, power and signal, or power and CAT5e.  Each version includes a hard-wired connection – more reliable and secure than Wi-Fi alone – to improve performance. These innovative, industry-first EV charging cables combine direct power conductors with a screened data cable, allowing EV installers to fit just a single dedicated cable rather than a complicated system of multiple cable types. Make your charge point installations quicker, easier, and neater than ever before.

Doncaster Cables is one of the leading businesses in providing electricians with cabling specifically for EV chargers, and the variety they produce gives you the right cabling for the job.

Twin and Earth Cables

Twin and Earth cables are primarily used for circuits that will provide power to sockets and lighting in a domestic setting.  These approved and accredited cables can be installed in conduit, in cable trunking and in cable ducting, or, where there is deemed little risk of mechanical damage their cables can be clipped direct, on cable tray, embedded or in free air. These cables are not intended to be laid underground.

Steel Wire Armoured (SWA) Cables

Steel Wire Armoured (SWA) cables are predominantly used for industrial wiring and mains distribution. They are designed to be used in industrial areas, in and around buildings and other similar environments. These cables are designed to be installed in air, clipped to surface, on cable tray/ladder work, embedded in concrete and buried direct or in ducting.

Tuff Sheath Cables

Tuff sheath cable is designed for industrial wiring and mains distribution in areas where the mechanical protection of an SWA cable is not required, making it a more flexible cable and easier install. It is particularly suited for warehouses, farm buildings, gantry wiring and factories. These cables are designed to be installed in air, clipped to surface, on cable tray/ladder work and embedded in concrete. The cables can be laid direct in the ground providing that suitable additional mechanical protection is in place.
