Installing an EV charger is typically a straightforward process when conducted by a qualified electrician. The process usually takes around 2 hours in total, during which your installer will examine the area to ensure that it is a suitable location for the installation of your EV charger and then fit the EV charging point onto a brick or plaster wall, or onto an alternative suitable permanent structure such as a mounting base. Your electrician will also conduct all the necessary cablework, test the connections and also provide you with instructions on how to use your new electric vehicle charger. What brands are stocked?
How long will it take to charge my car?
The length of time it will take to charge your electric vehicle will depend on the type of EV charger you use. Generally, a 60 kWh charger car will take approximately 8 hours to completely charge from empty using a 7kW electric charger.
Here at YESSS Electrical, we stock a range of fast charging EV chargers, ranging from 7kW to 22kW. Take a look at our range today.
How much will it cost in electricity?
The cost of charging your electric vehicle will depend on the size of the car battery and the electricity rates charged by your energy supplier. However, generally it can cost around £9.20 to fully charge your electric car using a home EV charger. This is based on an estimated electricity rate of 17p per kWh and a charger car battery of 54kWh.
Do the above 2 points vary by car model or charger brand?
The model of the charger car in terms of its battery size will have an impact on the length of time it takes to charge and the cost of charging it. Typically the bigger the car battery, the longer it may take to charge and the more expensive it may be to charge also.
However, generally the brand of the EV charging station you purchase has no bearing on the charging time or cost; the charging speed of the EV charger usually has the most influence on these matters. Nevertheless, choosing a suitable brand is important as this can offer additional peace of mind, plus added convenience if a brand offers smart features such as WiFi connection and remote control functions.
At YESSS Electrical, we stock a range of high quality commercial, workplace and home EV chargers from the industry’s leading brands. Take a look at our excellent collection of EV charging stations today.
Are there different types of EV chargers?
Yes, there are three main types of EV chargers: rapid, fast and slow. These categories relate to the power outputs and charging speeds of the chargers. Rapid chargers are the fastest type of electric charger, they are usually found at motorway services. Fast chargers can be seen at supermarkets, car parks and leisure centres, whilst slow chargers are the usual choice for domestic properties as homeowners can charge their electric vehicles overnight whilst energy prices are lower.
Where can I install an EV charger?
If you’re installing your Electric vehicle charger at home, you can get the device fitted into your garage, on an outdoor wall or on off-street parking. Most businesses get EV chargers installed in company car parks.
