- As more charge points become available and more electricians are trained with the technology. Charging point installation prices will decrease.
Overall, this will help to open the opportunity for consumers to invest in EV who previously wouldn’t have been granted permission due to regulations now loosening.
Who This Benefits
The regulation changes are meant to benefit people who have private driveways or off-street parking, so homeowners and business owners benefit from the changes.
Street Parking Impact
Even though many drivers still rely on on-street parking sadly, EV charging solutions that are built for on-street parking, you will still need to apply for planning permission. This mainly impacts solutions such as a charge gully that allows you to feed your EV charger wire through the curb or for an on-street EV charger.
The Future
With the future ban on the sale of new petrol and diesel vehicles set to come into play in 2030, steps are already being made to help with the adoption of EV throughout England. Soo far we’ve seen the following already being implemented:
- Over £2.3 billion invested by the UK Government investing into the EV infrastructure.
- Over 80,000 public chargepoint are already live around the UK.
- The past year we have seen an increase in around 18,000 workplace chargers added in the past year.
- Over 1,400 EV chargers have been implemented at school and colleges.
With all the changes already being made, the government has also committed to a total of 300,000 public charging points by 2030. With all the changes currently made and how they are setting up for the future, the UK government are pushing to remove the current barriers consumers currently face when trying to transition to EV.
As 2030 grows closers, the regulation changes currently affecting England’s EV Charging infrastructure has made it much easier to invest into an EV charger. As we push for net zero in the UK, investment into our EV infrastructure will help make it be a much easier transition when we officially say goodbye to petrol and diesel transmission vehicles and we welcome in a new era of EV driving.
